Being a College Student in Dublin

Here I am. Today is Christmas Day. The subject of this blog is going to be about being a college student in Dublin. I’m currently studying Project Management at Dublin Business School. As I’m in middle of the year, I believe that I could’t find to more appropriate time. I’m starting with DBS then I’ll continue with Project Management.

Dublin Business School (DBS) is in middle of the city centre. I mean by that. The location would not be better. I’m genuinely happy about it. Even though DBS do not have campus, their buildings are in good condition. I was attending classes once a week at Aungier Street building and Castle House building. In the 4th floor of the Castle House, there is a common room. During the day, you could go there any chill, or playing some games, meeting new people or you can get a coffee in the corner. Usually the Student Union have events in there. I’m rarely attending these because of my schedule. In the Aungier Street Building there is a library on 2nd floor and there is a cafeteria 1st floor underground. The coffee is terrible in that cafeteria. It was burnt. That could be one time mistake but I’ve never been there after that experience. Library is… like… library.

DBS’s have a Internet website for assignments and materials. In my experience the website is not effective. They are uploading our materials in weekly basis. But It should be sorting by uploading date. It makes it confusing. For example I’ve finished 2nd weeks materials. The teacher uploaded new material for 2nd week. In this case I didn't get any notifications about that material and when I check the website that makes me confusing. Also, It not shows that like you’ve already opened this material.

I was very confused at the beginning of Project Management as I have an engineering background. That doesn’t mean that every one going to be fail. I’ve never studied this subject. In addition it is in English! There were a lots of new terms. after 2 months I’ve used to the new lexicon about the Project Management. In the English language perspective, I’ve improved myself in another level comparing to last spring. In the beginning I had doubts that like can I study? Am I have enough English for PM? I’ve proved myself that I have better English than I thought. I did writing and presentations. I contributed to the team works.

According to the PMBOK® Guide—Fourth edition (PMI, 2008a, p. 434) the definition of a project is “a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique project service or result.” So, If something has start and end and also unique, we can define as project. This blog is a project. Life is a Project.
